Today, I woke up feeling grateful for the blessing of working from home.
I finally made it.
Despite my tiredness, the peace, quiet, and flexibility that come with my job have made a massive difference in my life. I woke up early to help my husband prepare for his long drive to Pecos for the 3rd week in a row.
The road to the shop was dark, and I could feel my concentration slipping in and out, my head throbbing a bit. I dropped him off to get his work truck and kissed him goodbye.
It’s just me and the cats this week.
Before I turned to go, I saw many little patches of orange flowers growing around the shop doors. I’ve seen these popping up around town. Coming in with the new spring season, and finally had a place to pick some.
Back home, I slept for another three hours before waking up to get ready for work.
Despite the difficulty of getting out of bed, I felt uplifted by the sight of my flowers, radiantly displayed in a repurposed pizza sauce jar by my kitchen window.
I took a moment to reflect on the positive changes in my life this year and brewed a cup of coffee, adding in a dollop of homemade whipped cream.
The morning sun peeked through my window casting its light on my orange flowers.
I settled in at my computer, dressed in a comfortable sweatshirt, biking shorts, and a sports bra, with my hair pulled back and no makeup.
It was a moment of pure joy – a reminder that even in the midst of fatigue, it’s important to stop and savor the small moments that make life beautiful.
