The little things keep me present and grounded in this moment.
It’s the little things in life that matter to me the most. I reflect on my past but I don’t dwell. I keep working hard for the future I want while enjoying the present. After all, my present was a dream for my past self, and the future is a dream for my present self.
I Savor:
- Feeling the cold air on my face on the first cold day of the season.
- Stepping barefoot through the grass while I drag my heavy typewriter to its optimal photography location.
- Being with my husband, eating Papa Murphy’s pizza, cleaning out our closets, and writing in our anniversary journal about the first time we met.
- Comfy clothes, big baggy sweatpants, and oversized sweatshirts.
That night…
- Walking past the closed dimly lit boutique, imagining myself working in there.
- In a new season of life, all bright and colorful, smiling.
- It almost feels just like a movie
- I turned the corner, opened the door, and saw him waiting for me. Ordering our new favorite drink.
- Thinking about how 30 will be so different from 20 and realize I haven’t even lived through 29 yet.
- Yes, I have one more year left!
- Thinking about the new places we’ve been in this town and the new friends I’ve met, and the value they give to the world.
- I want to give value too, but how to find it?
I savor:
- Decorating two trees this year without a spending limit on ornaments and my handmade ribbon bows.
- Eating lunch with my husband at Chilis on a Monday, enjoying a margarita. It’s a cold day so I am sure people will be ordering soup and hot tea, *Ahaha* and I will never wait tables again.
It’s these little things that keep me in this moment, fully present every day. I’m thankful that I somehow made it through this exciting new season of life. That I am in a great place, have everything I need, and will keep working towards building the future without forgetting to live in the present.
